Achilles Tendonitis Orthotics:

Ultimate Achilles Tendonitis Relief: Our therapeutic, custom orthotics are precision-engineered to reduce stress and strain on the painful Achilles tendon. These are not simply generic insoles; each device is custom-made from a precise mold of your foot to ensure optimal rearfoot stabilization and targeted shock absorption, immediately reducing the tension pulling on the tendon and promoting healing. All our custom devices come with a Bilt Labs warranty and guarantee.

Precision Tendon Offloading

Achilles tendon strain is often caused by instability, excessive pronation, and sudden heel impact. Our custom design features a deep, stabilizing heel cup that minimizes side-to-side motion, and a controlled arch contour that limits inward rolling. This combination ensures the foot strikes the ground correctly and the tendon remains aligned, significantly reducing the inflammatory stress experienced during walking and activity.

Unparalleled Performance

Built from your unique foot mold and detailed health information, we guarantee a truly precise fit that mass-produced supports cannot match. Choosing Bilt Labs is choosing a durable, evidence-based therapy that offers reliable support and improves gait alignment for long-term comfort and mobility. Backed by our lifetime shell warranty.

Understanding Your Needs

Why Your Achilles Won't Heal?

The Mechanics of Achilles Strain

Achilles pain is often caused by excessive strain due to overpronation or low arch height. When your arch collapses, it twists the heel bone, creating a "wringing out" effect on the tendon with every step.

This constant stretching causes micro-tears in the tissue faster than your body can repair them. Without correcting the angle of your heel and lifting the foot slightly, the cycle of inflammation continues indefinitely.

We Treat The Root Cause Of:

  • Achilles Tendonitis (Acute Inflammation).
  • Achilles Tendinosis (Chronic Degeneration).
  • Sever's Disease (Calcaneal Apophysitis).
  • Haglund's Deformity ("Pump Bump").

Fast Facts

  • Load: The Achilles absorbs 4x your body weight while walking.
  • Impact: Misalignment twists the tendon, preventing healing.
  • Correction: Offloading the tendon is the #1 medical treatment.

Treating the Root Cause of Strain

The Problem

Why Generic Insoles Fail

Drugstore gels offer cushion but zero structural protection. They allow the heel to drop and the arch to collapse with every step, stretching the inflamed tendon further and preventing scar tissue from healing properly.

Result: Chronic pain, recurring inflammation, and potential rupture.
The Bilt Solution

Precision Custom Offloading

We capture your unique heel width and arch height to create a device that stabilizes the rearfoot. This reduces the "pull" on the Achilles tendon, giving it the slack it needs to finally repair itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Custom Orthotics FAQ

What shoes should you not wear with Achilles tendonitis?
Avoid completely flat shoes (like flip-flops or ballet flats) and very high heels that pitch you forward. Flat shoes stretch the tendon excessively, while unsteady high heels can shorten it. You need a stable shoe with a moderate drop (10-12mm) to protect the tendon from strain.
What are the best insoles for Achilles tendonitis?
The best insoles provide a deep heel cup to stabilize the calcaneus (heel bone) and firm arch support to prevent overpronation. Crucially, Bilt Labs custom orthotics can also accommodate a slight heel lift, which reduces the tension on the Achilles tendon, allowing it to heal.
What is an orthosis for Achilles tendonitis?
An orthosis (orthotic) is a medical device designed to alter the biomechanics of the foot. For Achilles tendonitis, it specifically controls the heel's side-to-side movement (pronation) and supports the arch to stop the "wringing out" twisting motion that tears tendon fibers.
What shoes do podiatrists recommend for Achilles tendonitis?
Podiatrists recommend stiff-soled running or walking shoes with a firm heel counter and a moderate heel-to-toe drop. Adding custom orthotics to these shoes upgrades them into a medical treatment system by ensuring your foot remains in neutral alignment during movement.

Product & Service

How long does it take to receive my custom orthotics?
Once you place your order, we ship out your foot mold impression kit within 1-2 business days. After we receive your molds back at our lab, we design, build, and ship your custom orthotics within 21 business days.
Are these truly custom, medical-grade orthotics?
Yes. These are not "heat-moldable" or "shelf" insoles. They are custom-fabricated from a physical mold of your foot using the same medical-grade polymers and EVA foams we supply to podiatry clinics. Nothing is pre-made or off-the-shelf.
Do you take insurance or FSA/HSA?
We are approved and set up to accept insurance FSA/HSA cards directly at checkout. We can also send a detailed invoice for reimbursement. However, we do not bill insurance companies directly as that typically requires an in-person office visit.
How long will my custom orthotics last?
Bilt Labs custom orthotics typically last a minimum of 2-3 years. The orthotic shell itself often lasts longer (and has a lifetime warranty against breaking), but the top covers may show wear and can be refurbished.
What is your return/refund policy?
We offer a full 6-month trial period. If you are not fully happy with your orthotics by that time, you can return them for a full refund. We also offer 2 free adjustments during this period to ensure the fit is perfect.
Where are my orthotics made?
Your new custom orthotics are made in the United States. We are located in the Houston, Texas area. All fabrications, designs, and finishing are performed by experts right here in our Houston lab.
What is your warranty/guarantee policy?
Your orthotics include a Lifetime Warranty on the plastic orthotic shell against breaking or cracking. This does not include the top cover material, as that is a consumable item that naturally wears with use.
