Morton's Neuroma Orthotics:

Ultimate Morton's Neuroma Relief: Our therapeutic, custom orthotics are precision-engineered to reduce the burning pain and nerve irritation characteristic of Morton's Neuroma. These are not simply generic insoles; each device is custom-made from a precise mold of your foot to incorporate a custom-positioned metatarsal pad (neuroma pad), effectively separating the metatarsal bones and relieving pressure on the inflamed nerve. All our custom devices come with a Bilt Labs warranty and guarantee.

Precision Nerve Decompression

Relief from Morton's Neuroma depends entirely on the precise placement of a domed pad just behind the affected metatarsal heads. Our custom fitting process guarantees the pad is placed exactly where your nerve compression occurs, effectively lifting and spreading the bones to decompress the inflamed nerve. This targeted decompression works instantly to reduce sharp, stabbing, or burning pain, offering relief that no standard off-the-shelf insole can duplicate.

Unparalleled Performance

Built from your unique foot mold and detailed health information, we guarantee a truly precise fit that mass-produced supports cannot match. Choosing Bilt Labs is choosing a durable, evidence-based therapy that offers reliable support and improves gait alignment for long-term comfort and mobility. Backed by our lifetime shell warranty.

Understanding The Condition

What is Morton's Neuroma?

The Mechanics of Nerve Entrapment

Morton's Neuroma is a fibrous thickening of the tissue around the nerve leading to your toes, usually located between the 3rd and 4th metatarsal heads. It is distinct from generalized ball-of-foot pain because it involves the nerve itself.

This condition is caused by the metatarsal bones being squeezed together due to tight footwear or biomechanical faults like overpronation. This lateral compression pinches the nerve, causing the classic "pebble in the shoe" sensation, numbness, or electric shock-like pain.

Specific Neuroma Symptoms:

  • Feeling like you are standing on a fold in your sock or a pebble.
  • Burning, tingling, or numbness in the toes (especially 3rd & 4th).
  • Clicking sensation between the bones (Mulder's Click).
  • Pain relieved by taking off shoes and massaging the foot.

Fast Facts

  • Location: Most common between the 3rd and 4th toes.
  • Cause: Tight toe boxes compress the metatarsal heads.
  • Correction: Metatarsal pads spread the bones to free the nerve.

The Problem

Lateral Compression

Standard insoles provide cushioning underneath but do nothing to stop the side-to-side squeezing of the foot. As long as the metatarsal bones are compressed together, the nerve remains pinched and irritated.

Result: Nerve remains trapped, causing shooting pain.
The Bilt Solution

Metatarsal Spreading

We integrate a custom metatarsal pad that sits in the "pocket" behind the metatarsal heads. This physically lifts and spreads the bones apart, creating space for the swollen nerve to breathe and heal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Morton's Neuroma Relief

Do custom insoles help Morton's Neuroma?
Yes. By adding a metatarsal pad to a custom arch support, we lift and separate the metatarsal heads. This relieves the compression on the interdigital nerve, reducing pain, tingling, and numbness associated with the neuroma.
What is a metatarsal pad?
A metatarsal pad is a small, raised dome built into the orthotic just behind the ball of the foot. Its purpose is to support the transverse arch and spread the metatarsal bones apart to free the trapped nerve.
Will this feel like a lump in my shoe?
You will feel the support of the metatarsal pad, but it should not be painful. It may feel unusual at first, like a small pressure behind the ball of your foot, but this is exactly how it offloads the nerve. Most patients adjust within a few days.

Product & Service

How long does it take to receive my custom orthotics?
Once you place your order, we ship out your foot mold impression kit within 1-2 business days. After we receive your molds back at our lab, we design, build, and ship your custom orthotics within 21 business days.
Are these truly custom, medical-grade orthotics?
Yes. These are not "heat-moldable" or "shelf" insoles. They are custom-fabricated from a physical mold of your foot using the same medical-grade polymers and EVA foams we supply to podiatry clinics. Nothing is pre-made or off-the-shelf.
Do you take insurance or FSA/HSA?
We are approved and set up to accept insurance FSA/HSA cards directly at checkout. We can also send a detailed invoice for reimbursement. However, we do not bill insurance companies directly as that typically requires an in-person office visit.
How long will my custom orthotics last?
Bilt Labs custom orthotics typically last a minimum of 2-3 years. The orthotic shell itself often lasts longer (and has a lifetime warranty against breaking), but the top covers may show wear and can be refurbished.
What is your return/refund policy?
We offer a full 6-month trial period. If you are not fully happy with your orthotics by that time, you can return them for a full refund. We also offer 2 free adjustments during this period to ensure the fit is perfect.
Where are my orthotics made?
Your new custom orthotics are made in the United States. We are located in the Houston, Texas area. All fabrications, designs, and finishing are performed by experts right here in our Houston lab.
What is your warranty/guarantee policy?
Your orthotics include a Lifetime Warranty on the plastic orthotic shell against breaking or cracking. This does not include the top cover material, as that is a consumable item that naturally wears with use.
